JEDDAH — A group of Filipinos working in Jeddah are appealing compatriots to help a friend, Novel Perez, who suffered a stroke, pay her hospital bill now amounting to more than SR50,000.

Emy Edano said Novel was rushed to a private hospital after she suffered a stroke and is now confined to the intensive care unit.

According to Edano, Novel is an undocumented worker and currently processing her exit visa so she could go home before the amnesty period expires on Nov. 3.

Edano said Novel had finished her fingerprinting and was waiting for her exit visa when she suffered the stroke.

Edano said they had sought the Philippine Consulate’s assistance but have not received any aid so far because of a shortage of funds.

Edano said they also posted Novel’s picture on Facebook hoping they can get help from kindhearted people.

“I call on our kindhearted compatriots to please help our friend Novel to settle her hospital bill. Paralyzed Novel is recovering and we are trying to find a way to help her go back home to her two children,” Edano said.
